Creative Paint Studio - An Expressive Art Class for Adults
Adult | Registration opens 2/18/2026 8:00 PM EST
Creative Paint Studio is a relaxed studio arts class. Students explore painting in their medium of choice, acrylic, watercolor, or gouache, along with mixed media techniques such as collage, printmaking, and art journaling.
Projects introduce the elements and principles of art in an approachable way, with an emphasis on creative process, experimentation, and personal expression. This class is ideal for beginners, returning artists, or anyone looking for a supportive space to develop their own unique art style.
Watercolor Paper or Mixed Media Paper
I suggest either using Mixed Media Paper that will take water based paints or 140lb water color paper for this class.
Those students who prefer using a journal or sketchbook to work in may plan to do so for most of their work. We will be occasionally be doing “messy” work that will require doing some work outside of the journal. No worries we will find an alternative.
You may use watercolor, gouache or acrylics for painting. Please use what ever paints you already have. The instructor does have some paint and brushes to share with the class.
If you are using acrylics I do recommend using acrylic medium with them as it increases flow and helps blend the paint. Acrylic paint is intended to be mixed and blended with medium and not water.
Additional materials for other projects such as mono printing, pastel painting, some drawing projects and other mixed media projects will be provided by the instructor.
