Intermediate Metalsmithing - Jewelry: Session A

Building on foundational metalsmithing skills developed in Jewelry I, this intermediate-level course emphasizes precision, design development, and expanded stone-setting techniques. Students will refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing methods while creating complex instructor-guided projects. Topics may include advanced fabrication, surfaces treatments, forming techniques, and a variety of stone setting techniques. This course may be repeated, as techniques and project focus will vary from session to session. Jewelry I or equivalent Intro experience required.

  • Students will learn to:

    · Refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing skills for complex assemblies

    · Execute various stone-setting methods including bezel, prong, tube, and multi-stone techniques

    · Design and fabricate multi-component jewelry such as a ring or earrings

    · Strengthen understanding of design principles and project planning

    · Demonstrate intermediate craftsmanship and creative interpretation in finished work




    INSTRUCTOR NOTE:


    The pace and depth of each course may be adjusted to match the skill level and progress of the enrolled students. Examples of competed class projects will be presented on the first day to help the students visualize goals and outcomes.
