Intermediate Metalsmithing: Session A

Building on foundational metalsmithing skills developed in an intro jewelry class, this intermediate-level course emphasizes precision, design development, and expanded stone-setting techniques. Students will refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing methods while creating complex instructor-guided projects. Topics may include advanced fabrication, surfaces treatments, forming techniques, and a variety of stone setting techniques. This course may be repeated, as techniques and project focus will vary from session to session. Some experience required. Please note: NO class 8/5
Students will learn to:
• Refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing skills for complex assemblies
• Execute various stone-setting methods including bezel, prong, tube, and multi-stone techniques
• Design and fabricate multi-component jewelry such as a ring or earrings
• Strengthen understanding of design principles and project planning
• Demonstrate intermediate craftsmanship and creative interpretation in finished work
