Felted Tapestry Workshop

Adult | Registration opens 4/29/2026 8:00 PM EDT

This 2 day workshop will focus on creating a felted wool tapestry. We will start with the wet felting technique. Paint with a myriad of colorful wool creating a picture about 20 x 24 inches before wet felting. The process will incorporate the nuno-felting technique and include adding in fabric elements. Bring open weave fabrics and silks if you like. Some will be provided. Day one will include the wet felting process; rolling, rubbing and tossing to felt and shrink the projects thus making them stable. They will dry overnight. Day 2 will incorporate dry or needlefelting, stitching, embroidering, beading, cutting and finishing.

Robin McCahill

Robin is a professional puppeteer and board member of the Connecticut Guild of Puppetry. With a mechanical background, making sculptures that come alive and breathe is magic. We are allowed to suspend reality and connect with our inner child. You may see Robin with large puppets such as a unicorn, phoenix, dragons, owls and other animals at outdoor events connecting with Mother Earth.

Working mainly with felting and finding the attributes of this medium as it connects and changes and becomes something other than it’s origin yet maintains those elements as well is magic.
