Felted Tapestry Workshop

Adult | Registration opens 4/29/2026 8:00 PM EDT

This workshop focuses on creating a unique felted wool tapestry. Begin with the wet felting technique, “painting” with a myriad of colorful wool fibers to design a piece approximately 20 x 24 inches before felting. Participants will also explore nuno felting, incorporating fabric elements (bring open-weave fabrics and silks if you like, though some materials will be provided.) Day One will cover wet felting—rolling, rubbing, and tossing the fibers to bond and shrink them into a stable textile. Pieces will dry overnight. On Day Two, we will enhance and finish the tapestries using dry (needle) felting, along with stitching, embroidery, beading, and cutting techniques.

Robin McCahill

Robin is a professional puppeteer and board member of the Connecticut Guild of Puppetry. With a mechanical background, making sculptures that come alive and breathe is magic. We are allowed to suspend reality and connect with our inner child. You may see Robin with large puppets such as a unicorn, phoenix, dragons, owls and other animals at outdoor events connecting with Mother Earth.

Working mainly with felting and finding the attributes of this medium as it connects and changes and becomes something other than it’s origin yet maintains those elements as well is magic.
