We have all heard it: "My eight-year-old could do as good as that!"
Abstract art isn't easily understandable to some, but many have come to appreciate not only the great abstract works of masters but also their own ability to render thoughts and expressions in different and exceptional ways. Their trick is learning to view objects in a new and unfamiliar light by reducing images to their basic components of light, plane, and shadow, imparting the raw energy of color and movement to graphic concepts, creating visual images that are uniquely their own statement.
Acclaimed illustrator and abstract painter Dolph LeMoult will illuminate these principles, as well as help you explore your artistic individuality. You will be able to work in various materials such as graphite, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and acrylic, always with the emphasis on eliminating your inhibitions and unlocking your hidden creativity. You will learn the fundamentals of spatial arrangement, composition, and translating the nuances of color and value to paper in a hands-on, workshop environment.

  • Suggested materials are: basic sketchpad (14x17), heavy weight multi-media pad (18x24 or larger), Pelikan watercolor set or equivalent. Basic acrylic set including cad red medium, cad yellow medium, ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, ivory black, and titanium white. Assorted brushes – watercolor and/or acrylic. Pencils: HB, 2B, 4B. Charcoal, set of soft pastels, workable fixative. White enamel mixing tray, kneaded eraser.
