Encaustic paint is a very versatile medium. It acts as a colored paint, an adhesive, and a preservative. Students will learn the basics of working with heated, beeswax-based paint. Participants may paint from scratch or transform prints, drawings, fabrics, and other collage materials into complexly layered works of art. This class is for both absolute beginners and experienced encaustic painters who want to expand their use of the medium. We will be painting on wooden boards, Encausticbords and Encaustiflex.
