Sashiko Stitching Explorations & Scarf Workshop

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese art of functional embroidery defined
by it's use of the running stitch and geometric patterns. In this
introductory workshop you'll learn the basics of Sashiko while
exploring meditative stitching. You'll sew a simple patchwork scarf embellished with Sashiko stitches. Materials will be provided although students are welcome to bring favorite textile
pieces.

CLAUDIA MATHISON holds a BS in Art Education from Kutztown University and teaches a wide variety of youth classes at Guilford Art Center, Wesleyan Potters, Arts For Learning CT, Lymes Youth Service Bureau and at schools and libraries throughout CT.
