We will be using the silkscreen printing process to emulate and explore the print styles of Andy Warhol. Warhol’s silkscreens are a seminal element of his Pop art aesthetic. Theme, repetition
and variation are the elements we will explore through this process. Students should bring an image to work with; portraits and images of objects are popular Warhol themes. We will discuss
transferring images to printing screens, printing with ink, and creating additional color layers from the original image. Class materials fee covers the cost of printing screens,
emulsion, and remover.
