A variation of which was used in the famous Book of Kells, Uncial is a majuscule script (written entirely in capital letters). It was commonly used by Latin and Greek scribes from the 4th to the 8th century AD. But you can use it to write your favorite Irish proverb or maybe even a bawdy limerick.

  • Each student in the Uncial Calligraphy workshop will receive 10 sheets of dot-grid Rhodia calligraphy paper, a clear acrylic ruler, a "double" pencil set, one calligraphy marker, printed examples and letter charts - all of which they may keep. They should bring a two pocket folder into which to insert the worksheets.

MOKI KOKORIS is trained as an architect (graduate of Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art) and is a long-time member of the Society of Scribes and the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting [IAMPETH]. Moki Kokoris has been a freelance calligrapher, illustrator and graphic designer for over 40 years. Though she devotes much of her time to environmental advocacy and stewardship through her 90-north outreach education programs, she is equally passionate about visual arts, particularly calligraphy in its classical forms. In many of her high-end commissions, she uses authentic animal skin parchment, and quills* or reeds she collects and cuts herself. Moki is a Ridgefield, CT resident (and a confirmed chocoholic). *No swans are ever harmed in the making of her calligraphy quills.
