Paper quilling is an art form that employs strips of paper that are wrapped around a slotted quilling tool and then pressed in to various shapes. These are then glued down to make shapes and images to create pictures that may be used in picture frames, greeting cards, and boxes.
It is believed that quilling was first practiced in Ancient Egypt and then was popular in Renaissance France and Italy as well as 18th century England and Europe. Colonists brought quilling with them to America.
Paper quilling is enjoying a resurgence in popularity today, because it is easy to master. In this class students will learn the technique of rolling the strips of paper and creating various shapes. They can be fanciful and make all kinds of shapes, such as animals, trees and plants. They can create a 3D picture using their own creativity.
