Simple and Sophisticated Relief Printmaking with Stephanie

Adult Classes | Available

Relief printmaking (linoleum, easy kut, master cut) is any technique where parts of the design are cut away (the negative) and the remaining part (the positive) is printed using a brayer or roller that is inked and rolled over the surface and printed by hand. This seemingly naïve and childish medium can be very sophisticated. Picasso and Matisse, and many other famous artists experimented with relief techniques.  We will work with a 4x6 size so it can also be used for cards. Through demonstrations, we will explore one color, multiple colors and reduction, as time permits. This workshop will be using eco friendly, water based inks. Let your creative juices flow in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere.

  • Please bring 2-3 Black/White 4x6 ideas for your block. Use a sharpie or black marker (no pencil)
