Advanced Studio Art: College Portfolio Preparation with Kevin Yen

Kids Classes | Available

This advanced studio art program is designed for teen artists ready to take their skills to the next level. The class offers an inspiring and challenging environment where students refine techniques, expand creative thinking, and build confidence in their artistic abilities.

Working in drawing, painting, and mixed media, students explore advanced concepts in composition, form, and expression under the guidance of professional instruction and individualized feedback. With a strong emphasis on developing a portfolio-ready body of work, each student will review their existing pieces, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and learn how to rework, refine, or create new artwork that best represents their growth and artistic vision.

Ideal for motivated high school students preparing to apply to art colleges or specialized art programs, this course focuses on both technical skill and portfolio strategy—from selecting and improving pieces to photographing artwork and writing a compelling artist statement. By the end of the program, students will have a cohesive, high-quality portfolio that showcases their creativity, craftsmanship, and personal voice.
