Get ready to splash, doodle, and create! In this hands-on art class, young artists will explore all the fun ways materials can be used to make their very own masterpieces. Each week brings a new surprise—like crafting silly self-portraits, building wacky paintbrushes, or experimenting with color and texture through resist painting. With open-ended projects and lots of playful exploration, kids will discover how everyday objects can transform into tools for imagination, creativity, and self-expression.

Karl Benware

Karl is a visual artist and educator who brings curiosity, creativity, and a sense of fun into the studio. Working across fine art, illustration, and graphic design, he enjoys helping students experiment with materials, try new ideas, and see mistakes as part of the creative process. He has taught art to students in grades K–7, creating hands-on lessons that adapt to different learning styles while building confidence and foundational skills.

Karl studied Liberal Arts and Sciences at SUNY Stony Brook, Nassau Community College, and Mohawk Valley Community College. Drawing from his background as a working artist, he blends structure with exploration, encouraging students to ask questions, tell stories visually, and enjoy the process as much as the final result. His goal is to make art feel welcoming, playful, and accessible to everyone.
