Drawing Made Simple: Beginner Botanical Drawing Class with Kerri Shiekman

Step into spring and bring the season to life through drawing. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll sketch blooming florals, budding trees, and expressive birds while building essential drawing skills such as observation, proportion, line, shading, and composition. Through guided instruction and focused practice, you’ll develop confidence, sharpen your eye, and create fresh, nature-inspired work in a calm, engaging studio environment.

• Class is confirmed 1 week prior to start and may be cancelled due to low enrollment

- Set of graphite pencils
- Plastic Eraser
- Kneaded eraser
- Drawing Paper and/or Sketchbook (size you're comfortable working with)
- Metal Sharpener
- Tombow mono eraser (round or rectangular)
- Electric eraser (optional, but useful)
- Clean fluffy brush (for spreading/blending graphite)
- Blending stumps/tortillons
Kerri Shiekman
Kerri Shiekman is a Port Washington resident. She received a B.A. in Studio Art and a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Adelphi University, and has student taught at Weber Middle School in Port Washington. Kerri is an award winning artist and has shown her work across Long Island for nearly 20 years. She predominately works with watercolor but has a strong background in drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculpture. Kerri is looking forward to sharing her love of art with the students at The Art Guild.
