Charcoal pencil on toned paper for dramatic
expression and form.
Emphasis is placed on understanding form and light, head structure, and
keys to likeness to help students create more confident, accurate and
expressive artwork. This course is ideal for beginners as well as
students looking to strengthen their drawing skills in preparation for
future painting classes and more advanced studio work. Handouts will be
supplied.

• Canson Mi-Teintes paper or pads 9x12 or 12x16: grays pad or individual sheets of mid-tone greys. or Strathmore pads (9x12 or 11x14): toned paper for pastels or charcoal
• Additional: Sandpaper block pad; X-acto knife; paper blending stumps, Generals pencil sharpener

Rob Silverman’s innovative techniques have been featured in American Artist Workshop Magazine and The Art of the Portrait, the official publication of the Portrait Society of America. His work has appeared at Crosby Street Gallery and Spring Studio Gallery in Soho, the Art League of Long Island, Edward Hopper House, The Art Guild of Port Washington, The National Art League, the Lockwood-Mathews Museum, as well as the National Arts Club and Salmagundi Club.
