Digital Animation & Visual Storytelling

Ages 11+

Love anime, manga, graphic novels, comics, cartoons, or video games? Take your digital art beyond a single image and learn how to bring your characters and stories to life through animation.

Students will create original characters, develop stories, and transform their ideas into animated scenes using Procreate Dreams. They’ll explore character and environment design, storyboarding, framing, camera angles, lighting, movement, keyframes, and the principles of animation.

Already comfortable with Procreate? This class goes beyond the basics. Students work at their own level, so more experienced digital artists can build on the skills they already have and explore more advanced techniques, while newer students develop a strong foundation.

By the end of the course, students will have created original animated projects while strengthening their skills in drawing, digital illustration, storytelling, and animation.

Basic drawing experience recommended.

Brandasund Peterson

Brandasund Peterson is a Long Island-based artist, animator, and art educator whose creative practice spans drawing, acrylic painting, illustration, digital art, and animation. A graduate of Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design Education, Brandasund combines strong technical skills with a passion for helping students develop confidence in their artistic abilities. His award-winning animated project, *Mind of Their Own*, a traditionally animated proof-of-concept film, received recognition at Adelphi University for its creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. As both an educator and practicing artist, Brandasund is dedicated to fostering creativity, technical growth, and self-expression in artists of all ages. Brandasund is excited to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with students at The Art Guild, where he teaches Beginner Drawing, Beginner Acrylic Painting, and Beginner Procreate as well a children's classes.
