"Learning to see color rather than simply copying color"

Open to All Skill Levels

Learn to see color through the eyes of an artist! This engaging pastel painting class explores the relationship between color, value, light, and shadow while introducing techniques to create vibrant, expressive paintings.

Students will learn how to study reference images, recognize subtle color variations, choose the right pastels, and blend and layer colors to achieve beautiful results. Through demonstrations and individual instruction, we'll explore how warm and cool colors interact, how light influences form, and how value creates depth and dimension.

More than simply copying a photograph, this class encourages students to observe, interpret, and make their own artistic choices.

Whether you're picking up pastels for the first time or looking to strengthen your skills, you'll develop greater confidence in your ability to see and paint with color.
