This Intermediate to Advanced Painting course is designed for students looking to help refine and improve their painting skills and elevate their art. Steve will be working with each student individually with techniques and approaches to improve your artwork and hone your skills. In his classes the student decides what to paint and what medium to use. Perfect for students who may want to experiment with different mediums and challenge themselves, or need a little more guidance and outside eye to bring their art to the next level.

For over 30 years, instructor, Steve Lampasona, has been teaching all levels - from novice to advanced serious artists, and has many more years of of experience as a professional artist. With his guidance you will create wonderful finished art. This class is where you refine and master your skills. Oils, Acrylic or Watercolor are all welcome!

    • Details like palettes will be discussed during the first class. You are welcome to bring whatever supplies you already have. The following are optional – just recommendations. 

       

      WATERCOLOR 

      watercolor palette, round sable brushes, #10 and #8, 2B sketch pencil, kneaded eraser, wc paper pad or block 140lb approx. 9" x 12” 

      *Suggested basic colors: warm red (Ie: cadmium or scarlet), cool red (alizarin or rose), cool blue (ie: pthalo blue), cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow or new gamboge, raw sienna, burnt sienna 

       

      OIL & ACRYLIC 

      Oil: 2 or 3 bristle brushes relative to size of canvas and 1 or 2 sable brushes, canvases (your preference) 

      Acrylic: Synthetic brushes, canvases (your preference) 

       

      Oil Paints: Recommended Old Holland or Windsor Newton 

      Acrylic Paints: Golden or Windsor Newton 

      *Suggested basic colors: Ultramarine blue, Prussian blue, Cobalt blue turquoise (deep), Cadmium red medium (vermillion), Alizarin crimson lake extra, Cadmium yellow light, Yellow ochre, Burnt sienna, Burnt umber, Sap green, Hookers green, Titanium white (large tube), Zinc white (small tube), Titanium buff, Scheveningen black, Ivory black, Paynes gray

      Steve is a modern day renaissance man, with a focus realism. He enjoys working and teaching in a variety of mediums and has also worked on a number of corporate and residential installations combining 2 and 3 dimensional design.  Steve has been teaching in New York City and Long Island for over 30 years. He was an adjunct Professor at Suffolk County Community College and an instructor at the Nassau County Museum of Fine Art, the Art League of Long Island and USDAN summer camp. He opened his own school in 2013, The Artist’s Studio, located on the grounds of the Muttontown preserve and the Chelsea Mansion in East Norwich, NY.
