Joy Shan
As someone who grew up on the east coast of China, I missed Chinese food when I moved to the states for graduate school in a tiny college town. I learned and advanced my cooking skills when I had to be my own personal chef ?? I remember teaching a Chinese peer in my dorm how to cook dumplings to ease his homesickness after I knew he was weeping on the phone talking to his mother. I learned to recreate these authentic flavors using limited ingredients, and in doing so, I developed a passion for cooking. Most of my recipes use whole foods and are plant-based. I love sharing my recipes, experiences, and stories with people. I hope my classes will help and inspire others to explore and enjoy different food, cultures, and the world.
