Nature Class: Turkey Time - Make a Turkey Call!
Comm Ed - Lifestyle | Registration opens 7/31/2026 12:01 AM
Thanksgiving is upon us - let's learn all about turkeys! From hunting to conservation of the natural state's largest game bird, there's so much to discover about our colorful feathered friends - their history, their habitat, and their distinct calls. In this class, participants will engage in a fun hands-on activity to create their own wild turkey calls made from a few simple everyday objects, and then decorate them for the season. The nature experts with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will teach you everything there is to know about our local turkey birds, so bring the whole family to the Witt Stephens Jr. Nature Center to celebrate the holiday season and the great outdoors.
Every participant will be given materials to make their own turkey call. The cost of the class is $5, but if you are a group or family, you need only pay $5 total and not $5 per person. Only one person in your group needs to sign up for the class, and please let us know how large your group is by answering the registration question (maximum of five people per group) so that we make sure to plan for enough materials, table space, and chairs.
Ages Requirement: Ages 14 & up. All participants between the ages of 5-13 must be accompanied by an adult.
