Cake Decorating 101: Leveling and Icing

In this 10-part series, Chef Natalie Madison will focus on basic, intermediate, and even advanced details of cake decorating. Topics that will be covered are Modeling Chocolate, Buttercream, Cake Toppers, Leveling and Icing, Textured Cakes, Fondant, Basket Weave, and Floral Design, Buttercream Boarders, Scrollwork, and Swags, Shaped Cakes, and Mastering the beautiful, yet complex, Buttercream Rose.
Class 4: Leveling and Icing Cakes
Students will learn techniques and tips on how to level cakes with confidence. Then, once your cake has just the right position, turn your focus to frosting and learn skills on techniques that will help you go from a simple, smooth look, to rough and textured.
- Age Requirements: Ages 14 and up. Kids between the ages of 10-13 may enroll with a registered adult.

Community Education Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be issued if registration is canceled at least 7 days prior to the start of class. Cancellations made less than 7 days from the class date, will not receive a refund unless the class spot can be sold. In the chance that UA-PTC must cancel a class, registrants will have the choice of receiving a full refund or transferring to another Community Education class.

Natalie Madison discovered her passion for baking at 17 and honed her skills at a local bakery. She opened her own bakery in 2012 and later expanded to offer instruction and supplies. Now, she focuses on culinary instruction and has been featured in local publications and baking magazines.
