Private Lesson: Wheel Throwing

Wheel throwing private lesson for 2 adults. Have you always wanted to try wheel throwing? Come throw a pot using white stoneware, then fire and finish your pieces using food-safe glazes.
- Add the end of the workshop, students will each select a piece to fire and will select a glaze color. VisArts staff will fire the work, glaze, and fire again before work is ready for pickup. The primary student will be notified when work is ready for pickup (usually within 2-4 weeks).
All materials are provided - the studio fee covers the cost of clay, glazes, firing costs, and labor for finishing pieces.
Private lessons are subject to VisArts’ registration policies, should you need to cancel or reschedule. In this case the drop/transfer fee is calculated per number of participants.
Christine Orr
Christine Orr b.1993 (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Richmond, Virginia. Working in clay, fiber, paper-making and poetry, her practice critically navigates how humans have co-evolved with objects. Orr investigates material culture’s role in our understanding of domestic and utilitarian items. This research connects objects and what they are made from as well as their metaphorical and symbolic potential. Orr received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2015. She completed her Master of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in the Craft/Material Studies Department in 2021.
