Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator + InDesign for Beginners
Adult Multi-Week | Available
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are the three most popular programs within the Adobe Creative Suite. When used together, they give you the power to create and manage visual content with amazing results. Learn to create documents for print or digital platforms using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. We will edit images in Photoshop, design graphic elements in Illustrator, and use InDesign to combine them into a layout.
- Students need to bring a flash drive to class. All other equipment and materials will be provided. During class we'll be using the Adobe suite in the Visarts digital lab. If you wish to, you may bring your own device with these programs loaded onto it. During the 8-week course, we will establish a foundation for using Adobe Creative Cloud tools, specifically in these areas: InDesign: page layout; typography; working with images; formatting text; using paragraph, character, and object styles; working closely with Photoshop and Illustrator. We will build a brochure ‘from the ground up’, work on formatting a 2-page spread, and prepare documents for output of ‘hand-off’ within a creative team workflow. Photoshop: introduction to tools; image adjustments; basic image retouching; selections; using layers; masks and channels, working with typography. We will retouch/repair an image, create a ‘collage’ image, and prepare images for output or file sharing. Illustrator: basic drawing tools; using colors, swatches, gradations; aligning objects; using layers; adding and adjusting symbols; working with typography. We will use tools to draw and adjust an illustration, build a logo ‘from the ground up’, prepare documents for output or hand-off, and explore Illustrator’s 3-D tools

VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
