Making Mobiles
Adult Intensive | Available
In the tradition of mobile maker extraordinaire Alexander Calder, you'll learn the basics of crafting a kinetic sculpture. We'll explore balance and positioning hanging items for maximum motion, and you'll use wire, thread, swivel hooks, and a few of your favorite things to make your first mobile.
- Students are required to bring 10 small items to dangle from their sculptures that are not too big or heavy.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
This studio is not wheel chair accessible due to a set of stairs.
