Pattern Weaving on a Frame Loom

Adult Multi-Week | Available

Explore how to create patterns on a frame loom. We'll start with basic weave structures like plain weave and weft faced weave, and move onto more complex patterns like creating shapes using a plain weave, twills, chevron patterns, and overshot patterns. We’ll go over how different materials affect how the pattern may look. We’ll mostly be making small sample textiles to get a handle on the techniques, but some actual items that could be made are bookmark, coaster, potholder, or tiny wall hanging.

  • Some prior weaving knowledge is helpful. Class may be change based on student interest. All materials are provided but students are welcome to bring their own materials if they wish.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
