Shibori Dyeing
Adult Intensive | Available
Learn to dye fabric using the ancient Japanese tradition of shibori, otherwise known as tie-dye. You’ll use fiber reactive dyes to add color to white fabric. Your finished fabric will be perfect for quilting, garment sewing and home decorating.
- All materials are provided; participants will get a portion of cotton fabric and two silk scarves to dye. Bring a pair of rubber dishwashing style rubber gloves and wear "studio" clothes; the dyes used in this class will stain clothing. You are encouraged to bring a bag lunch.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
