Slab Building: Make a Set of Plates (Limited Offering)

Learn the basics of making slab-based plates. We will explore square, round and irregular shapes in various sizes. Expect to come away with a set of 4 – 6 dinner plates, lunch plates, and desserts plates. We will also explore slip and underglaze decoratio


  • Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible.     Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
    Please bring a towel and a set of basic clay tools if you have them.
    You will receive 25 pounds of clay; additional clay is available for purchase.

Al has been been playing and working with mud since he was a kid, his “Play-Doh Fun Factory” was just the best toy Al ever had. Al believes he became an architect and space designer as a result of all those things that he built in my “first childhood." Over the years he have been in and out of the clay studio.
