Open Figure Draw + Paint | Available
These drawing sessions are open to anyone interested in drawing from a live, nude figure model. A studio monitor guides the model and overall experience, but drawing instruction is not provided.
- Preregistration is required in order to control the amount of students. Payments for this class are non-refundable and non-transferable. There will be no instruction during this class. Those attending should bring all necessary materials; easels, stools, and tables are available. You will draw from live, nude models during this class.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
As a courtesy to people on the waitlist, and due to limited space availability- If you cannot attend the class, please contact the front desk at frontdesk@visarts.org or 804-353-0094 to drop the class and allow someone from the waitlist to join. You will not be charged the $25 drop fee in this scenario. Students must register for the class ahead of time. People who show up and are not registered, will not be permitted to wait, or join the session. This policy is in place to prevent people from being disappointed if they cannot join, which inevitably happens, and the moderator cannot navigate this situation. These sessions are intended for drawing or painting with water-based paints. If artists want to paint using oils, solvents are not permitted. This includes odorless mineral spirits and Gamsol. Linseed oil, walnut oil, and completely nontoxic citrus-based mediums are permitted. We have many students with sensitivity to solvents, so this keeps our drawing sessions toxins-free and accessible to the greater community.
On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
