Slab Building: Make a Darted Pitcher (Limited Offering) – New!
Adult Intensive | Available
Learn how to create a slab-built, darted pitcher! We will discuss size and proportion to ensure that your pieces work as a whole unit, expanding your knowledge of creating a darted form. At the end of the class, you will have a finished piece, the skills, and hopefully the inspiration (!) to continue making more art. This workshop is designed for anyone with a working knowledge of basic hand building techniques.
- If you have them, please bring your own pottery tools, underglazes, fettling knife, and a work board.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
The student should bring their pottery tools, underglazes, fettling knife, and a work board, if they have one.

Stephen Palmer
I received my B.F.A. from Rhode Island College, and continued my study of sculpture in Italy at the Tuscan Renaissance Center. As a member of the South County Art Association in RI and now at City Clay, in Charlottesville, VA, I continue to explore the many forms and function of clay. Through teaching, I hope to share and ignite the same passion and excitement in my students that I have for the ceramic form.
