Stop Motion Animation – New!
Adult Multi-Week | Available
Learn the basics of animation and video through the flexible medium of stop motion animation! This class will start with understanding the basic techniques of stop motion by taking pictures of an object being manipulated in time and then sequencing the pictures. Once you understand the basic principles (easy!), you will go on to create your own short animations. These can either be 2D (e.g., paper cut-outs) or 3D (e.g., puppets, claymation). Using storyboards to create a map of your animation, we will embark upon an exciting and interactive journey to make imagined reality come to life through animation. This is an eight-week course, with a good amount of time focused on learning basic tools in photography, lighting, sculpture/collage, and basic digital video editing. The class will culminate in each student's production of a short animated film.
