Family Studio | Available

Come make a lantern with 1708 Gallery at The Visual Arts Center of Richmond on October 5 from 1 to 3 pm for George Ferrandi's Super! Giant! Jump! Star! 1708 Gallery’s InLight happening on October 17 +18 at Abner Clay Park. This public exhibition of contemporary art designed to be experienced at night will feature 12 ceremonial sculptures in a celestial gathering of light, sound, and ceremony. The exhibition features 12 “North Stars” that have, do, or will serve as our “guiding light.” We will create lanterns in this workshop representing Jump! Star! “North Stars”. Open to families. Free.

  • Each person must individually register. Registered children must be accompanied by a registered adult. This program is best suited for families with children aged 3 to 8, however, all family members are welcome. All materials and equipment are provided. Artmaking activities will involve some messiness; please wear appropriate clothing.

Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

Accessibility notes: In youth art classes, many artmaking processes involve (age-appropriate) fine motor skills, physical strength, vision, and ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to info@visarts.org with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
