Small Glass Objects – New! Adult (18+)

Create small 3D works of art in glass! Learn how to make simple molds from found objects and through sculpting, then fill the molds with glass to be melted into 3D artworks.
- Students need to have basic glass working skills. Students will have basic materials provided but will pay for their own glass from the studio.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. If under 18, student must be accompanied by a registered adult. Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
Jude Schlotzhauer
Jude Schlotzhauer is a full time studio glass artist with a BFA in painting and an MFA in glass working. In addition to teaching glass kiln working at VCU for over 25 years, she has taught as a visiting artist at many universities and art centers throughout the country and in Mexico and Malaysia. Her work is in many private and corporate collections, including Capitol One, Verizon and Chesapeake Capitol Corp. Her public art commissions are installed locally at MCV, Randolph Community Center, Fire Station 16, Childrens’ Museum, and VCU dining center, and as far away as a Marine Officers complex in Japan.
