An Eco-Conscious Approach to Hand Building With Clay: Paper Clay + Wild Clay (Limited Offering)
Adult Multi-Week | Registration opens 11/5/2025 9:00 AM EST
Learn to create small, sculptural hand-built objects with a focus on form, process and sustainability. We will work with paperclay and wild clay. Explore and investigate basic coil, pinch and slab making techniques with these two different clay bodies. Learn where clay comes from, and how to use it sustainably and economically.
- This class does not include glazing. Painting techniques will be discussed so students can paint finished works at home if they would like. Clay is intentionally left “raw” and unglazed, in order to focus on form. Students may choose to fire their work though, which will be included in the class.
All clay bodies and firing will be included in the fees. Glaze will not be included.
Please bring a towel and a set of basic clay tools if you have them.
