Beginning Painting

Learn about painting in a fun and supportive environment. A different basic painting concept will be briefly introduced and discussed for general information each week, such as composition, values and color theory. Also color mixing, application and personal expression will be discussed. Students are encouraged to bring their own images and/or ideas to work from. There will be plenty of individual guidance and help for each student. Taught by an accomplished professional painter.

Artist grade are better than student grade, but either are fine.
A large tube of Titanium White
Smaller tubes of the following;
Thalo Blue
Ultramarine Blue
Quinacridone Magenta
Cadmium Red Medium
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cadmium Lemon Yellow
Palette paper
Palette knife
Synthetic brushes for Acrylic paints and Bristle brushes for Oil paints
1 Large Flat brush about 1 inch wide
1 Medium Flat brush about 1/2 inch wide
1 Medium Round brush, #4 or #5
1 Small Round brush, #2
A glass jar for water or Gamsol
Gamsol for Oil paints
Canvases from sizes 11x14" to 16x20"
Plus any other supplies the students may already have.
Mike Berlinski
Mike Berlinski has been drawing and painting since childhood, primarily with oil paints in the plein air tradition, focusing on the Farmington Valley, Cape Cod, and Cape Ann. MA.
He has taught and exhibited in Connecticut and beyond. In addition to teaching, Berlinski paints commissions for those with a special scene they love.
