Students will use their imagination creating crazy imaginary creatures with different materials in this fun class. Instructor Elena Gibson will read a creature themed story to inspire the kids before they create their projects. Class proceeds after a mid-morning snack with instructor Suzanne Sayers for a theater portion of the class where students will listen to picture books about “creatures” from their favorite authors and act out various characters. Children will bring these characters to life by taking them from the page to the stage. Family and friends are invited into the classroom on the last day of class as we have a “theater share”.

  • Please provide your child with a daily snack and drink.
  • There is no class July 4th.
  • Materials are included in tuition.

Master's degree in Education from the Creative Arts in Learning program at Lesley College, Cambridge, MA in 1997. Master Teaching Artist and Performing Artist through the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism.

Elena Gibson has been a practicing artist and educator for over 15 years. Her work is represented by galleries in Connecticut and Massachusetts. As an experienced art teacher, Elena has run numerous workshops in CT and MA in a variety institutions including Farmington Valley Arts Center, West Hartford Art League, Mandell JCC and New England Felting Supply. Originally from Slovakia, Elena has a background in graphic design.
