Students will use various techniques such as drawing, painting and watercolor to create personal works of art that will be made into their own Picture Books to take home in this week long class taught by instructor Elena Gibson. After a mid-morning snack class proceeds with instructor Suzanne Sayers for a theater portion of the class where students will act out various stories from some of their favorite authors. Children will bring these characters to life by taking them from the page to the stage. Family and friends are invited into the classroom on the last day of class as we have a “theater share”.

Master's degree in Education from the Creative Arts in Learning program at Lesley College, Cambridge, MA in 1997. Master Teaching Artist and Performing Artist through the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism.

Elena Gibson has been a practicing artist and educator for over 15 years. Her work is represented by galleries in Connecticut and Massachusetts. As an experienced art teacher, Elena has run numerous workshops in CT and MA in a variety institutions including Farmington Valley Arts Center, West Hartford Art League, Mandell JCC and New England Felting Supply. Originally from Slovakia, Elena has a background in graphic design.
