This class is intended for students with experience in portraiture who are looking for looking for ways to improve their drawing, solve problems, and deal with challenges such as drawing facial expressions. During the Spring session the class will be unstructured, with emphasis on individual attention. We will work from reference photos.

  • No class May 27
  • Students will need to bring their own drawing materials, in the medium of their choice (possibilities include pencils, powdered graphite, water-soluble graphite, charcoal pencils, charcoal, pen and ink) and will be encouraged to experiment.
  • Bring a couple of pencils on the first day (2B and 4B or whatever you already have on hand) and a medium-size drawing pad (such as Strathmore “Drawing”). Other materials will be discussed in the first class. Please contact the instructor with any questions.

A BFA graduate of the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, Nan Runde has exhibited award-winning work in numerous shows regionally, most recently a solo exhibit in Storrs, as part of the Artists Live program. Her art has been featured in the exhibit space of the Capitol Building office of the Connecticut Secretary of the State and has also been displayed at the Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook, Maple and Main Gallery in Chester, the Gallery at Firehouse Square in New London, and the Copper Beech Institute in West Hartford.
