This class is for traditional and abstract painters who want to move their work to the next level. My intention is to present the works of great masters with discussions about their techniques chosen specifically to inspire each student’s unique work. There will be group and individual critiques. You can expect to be challenged to explore your process keeping in mind specific goals we will create together for the 10 week semester. New students please bring a recent painting to the first class, so I will have an understanding of your present work.

  • All pigments /all brushes/ all palette knives
  • Liquin (oil painter’s medium)
  • 2 large yogurt containers (acrylic painters)
  • white gesso (acrylic painters)
  • large palette
  • Soft cotton rags (i.e. tee shirt)/ box q tips /sm. box nitrile gloves/ a magnifying glass/ cheap wood chop sticks
  • Masking tap
  • New students, please bring a recent painting or one in progress. All others, come with an idea and we will make a plan to move forward.

Levitz is a graduate of Vesper George School of Art, Boston. She studied at Trinity College, Hartford, as well as the Wesleyan University graduate program and Hartford Art School.
