Students will learn the classical drawing process using fundamentals such as perspective, proportion, how to organize space on paper, as well as the philosophy of what drawing is. Students will build a strong foundation of skills, beginning with becoming familiar with the tools of the trade – pencil and charcoal, and experimenting with all the qualities of line and shading that are possible with these tools. The class builds from there moving into simple forms like a cube or a sphere, and then on to still life (a collection of simple objects: a cup, a vase, etc.) The instructor demonstrates each step and by the end of the session students will have completed drawings using the techniques learned throughout the session. Class is limited to 10 students so that each student will receive individual attention.
