Painting Landscapes

Adult Classes | Available

Relax, de-stress, and get inspired with a like-minded community of artists as you discover your favorite landscape subject matter to paint while learning how the materials work. This class introduces the foundational concepts for oil and acrylic painting. It will cover composition, value, color, materials and techniques to paint gorgeous landscapes with plenty of one-on-one guidance.

  • Some drawing experience is helpful.

  • Paint (oil or acrylic)

Please have Fine Artist Version of paint not student grade.

Charvin, Old Holland, Sennelier and Michael Harding are all good companies. French Ultramarine Blue Light Cyan Transparent Red Oxide or Burnt Sienna Alizarin Crimson Quinacridone Magenta Vermillion Lemon Yellow Gamboge Permanent Sap Green Permanent Green Viridian Titanium White

*I don’t use Cadmium paints, but if you have them bring them.

    Brushes

A set of Bristle brushes size 2 to 12

Rosemary Brushes Ivory collection are excellent size 2 to 10

Creative Mark and SOHO makes nice brushes.

    Miscellaneous

    Paper towels (Bounty)

    Sketch pad & pencil

    Blue painters tape

Palette paper (I use freezer paper)

    Disposable surgical gloves (optional)

Acrylic painters need Retarder if they want to slow the drying time

Oil painters need Lindseed Oil and Gamsol by Gamblin

Containers to put each medium in. They make a glass jar with spring in it for gamsol. A deli container with a lid is great for linseed oil.

The Masterson Palette Seal helps save paint waste. It needs a paper palette inside. (optional)

I purchase my supplies mostly from Jerry’s Artarama and sometimes Dick Blick. I order brushes directly from Rosemary Brushes.
