Pour Painting
Adult Classes | Available
Explore this very fun medium where creations can be quite mind-blowing! Weekly demonstrations will be given, so students will learn the basics of pour techniques, such as dirty pour, flip cup pour, Dutch pour, and swiping. You will find this class to be inspiring as you discover the beauty of a pouring medium and a freeing experience into abstract expressionism where the poured paint envelopes the canvas with colors. My teaching style is to encourage engagement between students and instructor, as well as with other students. I want students to succeed on their artistic journey by gaining insight and knowledge. I provide demos, inspiration, and active involvement in my student’s expression while offering guidance and direction.
For the first class, bring 2-3 canvases, and other materials listed below.
Wooden or cotton canvasses—purchase at least 12 canvases. I recommend any of these sizes: 9” x 12”, 12” x 12” or 11” x 14.”
Please keep in mind that you may need more canvases depending on how you work. I recommend purchasing wooden canvases online. They are more expensive, but they are also sturdier than cotton canvases which can sag.
Hair dryer and extension cord
Paper towels
Painter’s tape
Acrylic paints
You will use a lot of white, so you may want to purchase Artist’s Loft brand in the large one-quart container, which is inexpensive. Also, purchase black and a variety of other colors. The brand of paint does impact the piece, so I recommend using: Golden (high flow, fluids or heavy body), Master’s Touch, Amsterdam, Deco Art Americana Décor Metallics, and many more (this is not an extensive list, just suggestions). I recommend only purchasing a few colors of paints for the first class.
After the first class, you can then decide what other colors and brands you would like to purchase.
You can purchase supplies at: Michaels, Jerry’s Artarama (online), Dick Blick (online), Jackson’s (online), Holbein Artist Materials (online), and many other retailers.
