Abstract Expressionism
Adult Classes | Available
Learn about Jackson Pollock’s painting techniques. You will find this class to be inspiring while discovering the vibrational energy as you fling, drip, pour, and splash your paint onto the canvas. This is a freeing experience into abstract expressionism that can be mind-blowing as you release the paint from your paintbrush, hand, palette knife, or bucket. You will also learn about colors, shapes, and textures to create an emotional painting. My teaching style is to encourage engagement between students and instructor, as well as with other students. I want students to succeed on their artistic journey by gaining insight and knowledge. I provide demos, inspiration, and active involvement in my student’s expression while offering guidance and direction.
- You need to be dressed appropriately with closed-toed shoes and an apron as this can get messy.
For the first class, bring only one large canvas (either 24” x 36” or 24” x 48”) and one 11” x 14” canvas.
Either one of these sizes of canvas: 24” x 36” or 24” x 48”
Pack of 11” x 14” canvases
Keep in mind, you may need more canvases depending on how you work, but I recommend purchasing at least two of the larger canvases, along with the pack of 11” x 14” canvases.
I highly recommend using Golden acrylic paints (high flow, fluids or heavy body or a combination). This brand has a high pigment load, and a diverse array of colors to choose from; I strongly recommend that you purchase a lot of white. Colors are your choice, but begin by choosing a few colors you like. After the first class, you can decide on other colors you might want or need.
You may also use other brands of your choice but I recommend Golden, or Amsterdam. You can also try Holbein, Daler & Rowney, Winsor & Newton, Grumbacher, and many more (this is not an extensive list, just suggestions).
