Adv Pour Painting Mixed Media
Adult Classes | Available
This class continues with what was taught in the previous pouring classes and adds other elements to the canvas, such as traditional painting. Students will learn to further develop their paintings into a multifaceted work of art, incorporating other media, such as cheesecloth, newsprint, cloth, tissue, etc. My teaching style is to encourage engagement between students and instructor, as well as with other students. I want students to succeed on their artistic journey by gaining insight and knowledge. I provide demos, inspiration, and active involvement in my student’s expression while offering guidance and direction.
For the first class, bring one canvas, and other materials listed below.
Wooden or cotton canvasses—purchase at least one 24” x 36” or 24” x 48”
Please keep in mind, you may need more canvases depending on how you work. I recommend purchasing wooden canvases online. They are more expensive, but they are also sturdier than cotton canvases. Cotton canvases can sag.
You may want to use a hair dryer and if so, you will need an extension cord
Paper towels
Painter’s tape
Acrylic paints
You will use a lot of white, so you may want to purchase Artist’s Loft brand in the large one-quart container, which is inexpensive. Also purchase black paint, and some other colors. The brand of paint does impact the piece, so I recommend using: Golden (high flow, fluids or heavy body), Master’s Touch, Amsterdam, Deco Art Americana Décor Metallics, and many more (this is not an extensive list, just suggestions).
I recommend only purchasing a few colors of paints for the first class. After the first class, you can then decide what other colors and brands you would like to purchase.
You can purchase supplies at: Michaels, Jerry’s Artarama (online), Dick Blick (online), Jackson’s (online), Holbein Artist Materials (online), and many other retailers.
