Explore the art of painting breathtaking landscapes with captivating skies and expansive horizons. We'll work on a generously sized canvas, starting with underpainting and sketching out the composition. Then, we'll delve into basic blending techniques and cloud shapes, using the same palette to master the art of mixing and applying colors for a dynamic sky. Finally, we'll use a catalyst wedge to create the foreground, adding texture and depth with scrapping and splattering. Julie will expertly lead you through each step of the process, offering demonstrations, coaching, and ample work time.

Julie Tibus

A Bachelor of Fine Arts, Julie Tibus has been professionally selling and showing her work for over 15 years and currently teaches at her own studios in Ann Arbor and Brighton, Michigan. Julie has an insatiable curiosity that leads her to explore emerging mediums with a desire to discover new techniques. Her work draws from an intersection of nature and her own bold expression of it. "My art is centered on exploring natural form, embracing color, and working intuitively. I begin with a loose thought (floral, landscape, color, pattern, shape) then move through the composition with an internal desire to free myself from laboring and instead lose myself completely to the process. I believe we all are creative and through art we can learn how to overcome the fear of comparison, the unknown, and those hard expectations we impose on ourselves. My work is for the viewer to experience, contemplate and enjoy."
