In this 2-day workshop on alcohol inks, you'll learn to work with loose abstraction, joyfully losing yourself in self-expression. You will unleash your creativity while learning different techniques. Alcohol inks are an incredibly vibrant medium that streamlines the art of painting. Day 1 focuses on intuitive abstracts painted on white, black, and metallic art paper. Day 2 explores dramatic abstract landscapes.

Various tools and suggested compositions are introduced daily, with demonstrations, coaching, and plenty of time to paint!

Julie Tibus

A Bachelor of Fine Arts, Julie Tibus has been professionally selling and showing her work for over 15 years and currently teaches at her own studios in Ann Arbor and Brighton, Michigan. Julie has an insatiable curiosity that leads her to explore emerging mediums with a desire to discover new techniques. Her work draws from an intersection of nature and her own bold expression of it. "My art is centered on exploring natural form, embracing color, and working intuitively. I begin with a loose thought (floral, landscape, color, pattern, shape) then move through the composition with an internal desire to free myself from laboring and instead lose myself completely to the process. I believe we all are creative and through art we can learn how to overcome the fear of comparison, the unknown, and those hard expectations we impose on ourselves. My work is for the viewer to experience, contemplate and enjoy."
