Int/Adv Pour Painting: Diptych & Triptych
Adult Classes | Available
This class focuses on learning how to transition from pouring one canvas to two canvases to three canvases, creating diptych and triptych pieces. There are several different pouring techniques to use, so students may want to combine these pouring skills to create a larger body of work. There will be plenty of demonstrations, but prior pouring knowledge and skills are needed so students understand how to handle pouring on multiple canvases. We’ll focus on color choice and an overall theme for your work of art, so the pieces flow together.
$75 fee payable to the instructor at the first class for specialty materials
Wooden canvases are better for pouring than cotton canvases—purchase at least 12 canvases—I recommend any of these sizes: 9” x 12”, 12” x 12” or 11” x 14.”
Please keep in mind, you may need more canvases depending on how you work. I recommend purchasing wooden canvases online. They are more expensive, but they are also sturdier than cotton canvases (cotton canvases can sag).
Hair dryer
Extension cord
Paper towels
Painter’s tape
Acrylic paints
You will use a lot of white, so you may want to purchase Artist’s Loft brand in the large one-quart container, which is inexpensive.
Also purchase black paint, and a variety of other colors.
The brand of paint does impact the piece, so I recommend using: Golden (high flow, fluids or heavy body), Master’s Touch (especially if you want blooms), Amsterdam, Deco Art Americana Décor Metallics, and many more (this is not an extensive list, just suggestions).
I recommend only purchasing a few colors of paints for the first class. After the first class, you can then decide what other colors and brands you would like to purchase.
You can purchase these items at: Michaels, Jerry’s Artarama (online), Dick Blick (online), Jackson’s (online), Holbein Artist Materials (online), and many other retailers
