Geometry & Fibonacci Sequence in Art I

Geometry and art have a long history together. The synchronous relationship has crisscrossed the artistic landscape; think of the Fibonacci Sequence, and measurements of mathematical formulas in music and in nature. We’ll look at these mathematical elements and how they show up in the artist’s realm and explore the Rule of Thirds and how this helps the artist in their composition. I give live demonstrations and encourage discussions. Come with an open mind and learn how math is very much part of the artistic landscape.
For the first class, bring only one canvas 8” x 16” and one 11” x 14” canvas, and all other supplies listed below.
Purchase one 8” x 16” canvas, and a pack of 11” x 14” canvases. Keep in mind, you may need more canvases depending on how you work.
Golden high flow (dries fastest), or Golden fluid acrylics; color choice is yours. After the first class, you can decide on other colors or brands you might want to use. Another brand you could use: NOVA
Paint brushes: flat, angle, filbert, round
High gloss varnish
Painter’s Tape
Plastic cup or container for water
Palmolive or Dawn dish soap to clean your brushes
Paper towels or cloth for wiping and cleaning brushes
