This evening class will focus on the fundamentals of wheel throwing, learning crucial techniques such as wedging, centering, opening, raising, and shaping. Varied glazing techniques will also be introduced to students for aesthetic finishing. Whether you’re new to the wheel or are already comfortable working on it, this small-group setting will allow for individualized attention and ensure that each student produces personalized pottery. Designed to be taken time and time again to further solidify your skillset, each session will guide you further on your wheel-throwing journey.
Alice Bonilha
Alice Bonilha is a Brazilian-born artist with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Anthropology. She is also a Florida-certified visual-arts teacher. A long-time and passionate teacher, she encourages students to utilize fundamental visual-art elements and design principles while still fostering students’ creativity and individuality. Her own artwork, which she regularly displays at juried art shows, currently focuses on crafting functional and artistic ceramics -- including bowls, mugs, plates, platters, vases, and figurines -- that are aesthetically pleasing and contemporary.
