Wheel/Hand Hybrid
Adult Classes | Available
You've established "the basics" in either hand building or wheel throwing, now it's time to bring your imagination and develop your style exploring the use of texture, slips, underglazes, carving and the sgraffito technique. Work with Rebecca who’s well versed in both wheel throwing and hand building vessels, to develop your unique esthetic and style. Projects can also be a combination of hand built and wheel thrown pieces, whether functional or sculptural. Projects will be fired and glazed with food safe glazes.
- Please note that this class runs 5 WEEKS.
*Open to Intermediate/Advanced hand builders and wheel throwers able to open and raise walls.
Rebecca Matarazzi
Using a variety of techniques in clay, my objective is to produce pieces for utilitarian purposes that convey a sense of tradition while allowing new concepts and ideas to develop. I get inspiration from the natural environment, creating designs for the home and kitchen that are pleasing both visually and tactilely. My teaching style is to observe each student and assess their individual needs in perfecting our craft. With a BS in Ceramics, Penn State University, I spend my days working in my pottery studio, using the Florida sun to hasten drying while fresh pieces await their first firing!
