Use your creativity and imagination to turn flat pieces of paper into wondrous and unique, artistic 2D & 3D masterpieces. Capture a likeness in layered imagery collage. Learn quilling, as we roll & shape colorful paper coils into intricate artworks.
- Please bring a drink & snack for the mid-class break.
Students staying all day must bring a bagged lunch from home.
Mary Thompson
Mary K. Thompson is an experienced art educator and ceramic artist with more than 25 years of teaching across K–12 and higher education. She holds a B.F.A. in Ceramics and an M.Ed. in Art Education from the University of Minnesota, along with K–12 certification. Mary has taught in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Collier County Public Schools, where she developed curriculum, managed studio classrooms, and curated school-wide exhibitions that celebrated student creativity.
In addition to her K–12 work, Mary served as an adjunct professor at Kean University and taught Art Appreciation at The International Academy of Design and Technology, where she developed curriculum and supported students in visual analysis and creative thinking. A practicing ceramic artist, Mary brings strong studio expertise, clear communication, and a passion for helping students discover confidence and joy in the arts.
